Things I’ve Created

I enjoy making works in all manner of materials - including collage and assembly techniques utilising found objects and natural materials. I’ve enjoyed fashioning contemporary jewelery pieces and cyanotype prints harnesssing the collaborative energy of the sun to develop prints. I’m always making something, or imagining what might be possible…

But my passion for the past 5 years or so has been basket weaving. I am a self-confessed “basket case” in the best sense of the word. I have found this mindful craft incredibly grounding. In a world that feels like it’s unravelling, it’s comforting to take disparate strands and bring them together into a cohesive whole - something capable of holding (space, treasures, the too hard things…) Weaving is a slow, incremental process that cannot be rushed. The materials are simple, the technique rhythmic, but it takes time. A small basket (the size of 2 cupped hands) might tke 200 pine needles and 10 meters of linen thread.
